Craftsman tool chest modification

I want to organize my wrenches and sockets better. I have Craftsmans tools and storage.

I was looking at another 21" rolling bottom chest, but the drawer height are less than desired. the one the local Sears outlet has one 4" and three 6" drawers.

Has any one changed drawer heights? I was thinking about removing two 6" and replacing with three 4". even considering removing the 4" and replacing it with two 2".

I think it would be nice if one could buy the pieces and assemble the way one wanted but an empty frame is not available as spare parts

I built my own out of wood, for the same reason. I wouldn't recommend it, way too much work making all the drawers.

I think the drawer tracks wouldn't be an easy change over.

Actually I think Sears sells a kit to do that. (or used to)

Look around. There are so many tool box configs that I'll bet you can find what want.

If you aren't set on new keep checking Craig's list. I've seen some nice boxes go cheap. (missed a coupe buy minutes) also Home Depot, Lowes and Harbor freight have some decent boxes at good prices.

just looking at owners manual and what I remember when I bought last one, I think they are like those adjustable shelves with pre punched holes. I think a single rivet keeps them in that will need to be drilled IF I have to remove, I was wondering if anyone had done they could be abandon in place.

I have gotten the part numbers, just need to do counting of what will be needed.

the hardest part for me is commititng to making the credit card charge :(

I have spent today/last night googling and reading through online catologs for the option to buy all the pieces. have made two calls and chatted with sears about it also.

If it was for a loyality thing, Northern tool does have a box with my desired shelving (ironthron). Shipping does bump cost to nearly equal this thought
