Country with Violent Crimes

A recent radio new item resulted in my checking to see what Western Country has the most violent crimes. I was a little surprised by the result of my findings, based on the continual Democrat Propaganda here. I was not surprised top learn that the Countries with most restrictive gun laws have high crime rates. The following, from the World Health Organization latest lists the Violent Crime Rate Per 100,000 population, per country. I am not sure if "violent crime" is defined the same in each country, or by the World Health Organization, but here is what is current.

The UK Leads with 2034 violent crimes per 100,000
Austria - 1677
South Africa - 1609
Sweden - 1123
Belgium - 1006
Canada - 935
United States - 466

I have not included all countries but only some representatives to compare with the U.S.

I was not surprised to note that the rate for the U.S. is as high as it is due to the high rate in less than a dozen U.S. cities that skews the national rate, all long-time Democrat Controlled.

Just a quick note on Sweden.-
I have a good friend who is a native Swede who studied in the US and still lives there today. There is what I'd define as a crime crisis by their standards due to recent influx of refugee's into the country in recent years. Particularly if you study sexual assault/rape cases. Not opinion the numbers are there if you look for them and they are not argued. This is a delicate area these days due to politics, but I can assure you that you'd be very unlikely to be the victim of a crime if visiting Sweden 15 years ago.

Having said that I have no doubt those numbers are correct today. And I wonder if this is a factor of Belgium ranking so high as well. At no time in my memory was Belgium ever regarded as a remotely dangerous place until perhaps recently.

Considering the small size of Austria and Belgium it makes for a significant risk of being a victim anywhere you stand. Bigger countries like Canada, South Africa, and USA, there will be areas of very high(much higher than the "average") and very low risk.

I did a paper last August on gun deaths and the one factor that most
anti-2A people want to ignore is that 29% of all non suicide gun deaths
in the United States happen in just 6 cities! Four of those cities have
very strict gun laws.

They are:
~ Chicago
~ Baltimore
~ Detroit
~ Washington DC
~ St. Louis
~ New Orleans

By year end 2016, Chicago had far surpassed its "normal" murder rate,
thus the 29% is way low. My best estimate, without re-doing all of the
numbers in the paper, is 33% (one third) of all gun deaths in the US, are
in those six cities.

Golly-Gee-Whiz Phred, does that mean gangs and drugs are a negative
influence? :shock: HOW COULD THAT BE?! :roll: {/sarcasm}

A few other interesting statistics:
~~ 71% of gunshot victims had previous arrest records.
~~ 64% had been previously convicted of a crime.
. . . . . . Each had an average of 11 prior arrests.
~~ 73% of the victim group knew their assailant.

While the UK runs over FOUR TIMES the U.S. violent crime rate, if we
could get the drug/gang problems reduced, our rate would diminish
SIGNIFICANTLY!

And the sad part about St. Louis is the population is only 400k while those other cities' populations are in the multi millions.

Baltimore is about 600,000 and has had an average of 1+murders per day so far this year (percentage is over 1 but under 2). Haven't checked the papers this morning to see if they have added any. The city is a 'war zone'. With our wonderfully restrictive gun laws only the 'bad guys' carry guns.

My own limited observation indicates to me that crime in Democrat Cities are deliberately encouraged by the Democrats to make sure that there is a political crisis that can be exploited for Political benefit to the ruling party. For example, Chicago.

I regularly visit my customers in Chicago, nearly every month or six weeks. Chicago is almost two cities. The South side is a hell hole for the people, mostly Blacks and other Minorities who live there. The North is a working, prosperous area who are happy that the Democrat run city "keeps those Blacks and low lives in their place". This is the exact statement I heard from one woman in Chicago this year. She will continue to vote Democrat so long as Chicago keeps the crime (in its place).

That is why the police and judges do not want the criminals to disappear, it would mean they would be out of work, so they release them back to the streets to cause more tax payer funded work for themselves. A happy family of sorts.

I am not saying the individuals think about it like that, but as a system this is a very reasonable explanation.

As a prosecutor with 28 years in I guess I never got the memo or invited to the meetings on this relationship.

I would REALLY like to read that study. How about a link or name so I can find it?

That was a study in my country years ago. I could not find it anymore and it is not in English, anyway.

Looking at what happens in our country and many other Europeans countries, too, the criminals really do have a symbiotic relationship with the authorities.

Some years ago a professor of law said in an interview that because the sentences for murder are so short, a person can kill four times during his adult life span and sit the full sentence for each murder in prison. That interview was prompted by another case of a multiple killer having been released out of prison and he killed again within two weeks of getting out. If I remember correctly he already had done two full sentences for murder and this became his third, and he still has enough years left to kill at least one more time.

We also have a volume discount on sentences! If a person has committed several crimes he gets a discount on sentences. This one people have real trouble understanding, the expectation would be just the opposite that a repeat offender would get a stiffer sentence.
