Bring a case of cerveza and enjoy! When we have a party we invite the neighborhood and have a great time. I have the foghorn off a Japanese freighter and I run it periodically through the entire party. It's a hand cranked model and the kids enjoy playing with it. I am working today so no party. Otherwise we would be having a great timeIt's pretty quiet in my neighborhood so far. A few gunshots, a couple mortars and some firecrackers was about it. Tonight it may sound like little Beirut though. I'm surrounded by Mexican families and they damn well know how to party loud. One right next door sometimes hires a live Mariachi band and I've learned to sleep through even that. On the rare times I don't get to sleep I have two choices; lie in bed and enjoy the music ot get up, get dressed and go to the party. I have a standing invire anytime they throw one. I don't abuse the privilege.

That was my initial thought...Any chance those setting off the fireworks had a scanner?
A lawbreaker is a lawbreaker.
Paul, You need to be friends with them - so you can party with them! It's pretty quiet in my neighborhood so far. A few gunshots, a couple mortars and some firecrackers was about it. I work a lot of 12-hour shifts with varying hours like 3pm to 3am or 5pm to 5am. I swear my neighbor has a camera in my bedroom because as soon as my feet come off the floor and my head hits the pillow he starts to mow his lawn. He mows at least 4 times a week... disturbed sleep is nothing new. But I can sleep in a running engine room or boiler room and as soon as a sound changes I am wide awake.I guess life stops because your daughter is sleeping? Sorry it doesn't work that way! Get over it!
Is there a reason I cannot see any thing on the original contributor's post except a (.)?
Yep In 1984 I had to work 11-7am for about 6 months learning computer stuff. Working at night freed up the puters for the day folks. I didn't tell my neighbors to stop mowing, using chainsaws and such.I guess life stops because your daughter is sleeping? Sorry it doesn't work that way! Get over it!
That's great! In 1965 I was 16 years old and had my first summer job. I worked in a warehouse packing packages of fireworks for resale. Because of my age and because I was handling explosives I was paid under the table. My boss was a ex prize fighter Joe Gavras ( NEWSBOY JOE ) and liked kids and later build a boxing gym to help kids stay out of trouble. One day my boss Joe told me and my friend the Buzzard that around this time of the year ( early July ) that lots of fireman and policeman would come by and help deliver fireworks to fireworks stands and stores around the Bay Area and in turn Joe would give them free fireworks.
