Breech face of a 45 slide is too big for 10mm. Extraction would be problematical.
I carried a couple of 10 mms in 1911 configuration, but when I retired from ranching and moved back to town, I dropped back to 45ACP. 10mm has too much horsepower for what you might run across in civilization. 8)
It depends on how you want to use the 10 mm. A 180 grain bullet is still doin' what a 45ACP is doing at the muzzle at 100 yards.
I flattened a coyote at 80 yards, put down a 800 pound heifer, and a road injured antelope with one shot with the 10mm. It's an awesome cartridge, like the 357 Mag, recoil, muzzle blast, and penetration become factors if you are in town.
