I have several Rugers(Blackhawks, LCP, 10/22, etc.) but no target pistols. I'm thinking I want a 5" bull barrel blue target model with a steel frame. What Mk nos should I be looking for? Price range?
don't think that is correct , the blued frames as far as I know are metal of some kind and of course the stainless are stainless steel and the controls are pretty straight forward thumb safety and slide release and mag release on the bottom of the gripDepending on your other guns, you may want to get a 22/45 version. Basically the same gun, but with the grip angle from a 1911 instead of a Nambu or Luger.
The MKII and MKIII versions of the 22/45 are decent but had plastic frames and somewhat goofy controls. They can be had cheap now. Like $225
The MKIV 22/45 has controls that mimic a 1911 and changeable grips.
I have the MKIV 22/45 Lite my son has the heavy version. They are awesome.
My son’s gun. I think you would love it.

Done a bit of surfing since my original post: looks like I need (want) a MkIII or IV blued target model. Retails new for about $550.
The 22/45 MK IV grip frame is polymer as per the Ruger web site.

I could be wrong, but I thought all MkIIs and MkIIIs were welded steel frames. Reading other comments belatedly, it seems I'm wrong about .22/45s.My current target 22s are a S&W model 41, S&W model 17 and an old Colt Hunter. This will be strictly a range toy. I've got about a dozen centerfire semis but in my old age the recoil has become a problem. Steel frame is a must, does that eliminate all the MkII and III versions?
Mine shot out a quarter sized hole at 15 yards, completely stock.Just bought a MK IV target,I have mkiii also,I am a little disappointed in the mkIV at 7 yards it looks like a shotgun pattern maybe 6inch spread ive used SK,Federal Gold,Aguila,CCI,Remington I’ve tried everything it just doesn’t shoot worth a dang. Now same ammo my S&W Victory shoots a single ragged hole.Any suggestions
I prefer the tapered barrel, myself.I have several Rugers(Blackhawks, LCP, 10/22, etc.) but no target pistols. I'm thinking I want a 5" bull barrel blue target model with a steel frame. What Mk nos should I be looking for? Price range?
