Consecutive Hawkeyes

I missed out on a pair of Consecutive Hawkeyes that were advertised a few months ago. They were priced at a premium, but the rarity made it worth it to me, but I wasn't quick enough as they sold fast.
I told myself at the time that I needed to set a goal for a consecutive pair of Hawkeyes. Thanks to a ranking forum member I’m getting a pair of three digit consecutive Hawkeyes both with boxes, one with the scope!!!
Everyone has their own personal “grail” Ruger’s, and mine is this set. Engraved single sixes are, rightly so, one of most Ruger collectors grail guns. I have had a couple and they are beautiful, but paired up Hawkeyes really make me more than anything else.

The Hawkeye handgun was my grail gun & my nemesis for 35 years. At the tender age of 17,, I got to shoot one. After that I always wanted one. When I'd find one,, I would be too broke to afford it. When I had money,, none to be found.
Well, Several years ago,, a GREAT friend,, fellow Ruger collector, ROCS Founding member, a member here,, Had one,, and was selling. I got my Hawkeye finally,, thanks to Mike Womble. (mike722 here.) May he RIP as we lost him on 11/5/23.
I wrote a tribute to him & the other folks who took me on my journey of getting a Hawkeye for the ROCS magazine (Spring 2025.)
My gun range is named "Hawkeye Gun Range" because of that gun.

So I FULLY understand your quest in owning a consecutive pair of them. KUDOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love your history with the Hawkeye. Mine was similar, but my addiction to the Hawkeye began with handling of my first one about the time I graduated High School in 1972. I had never seen such an unusual design! It’s “ugliness” (as some call it, but not those of us that Love them) got me hooked. Always trading or picking one up when the cards were right. Always wanted a consecutive pair and decided I’m not getting any younger! If I am going to have a pair I better hurry up!

The rods you see between the front of the cylinder and frame I think you are asking about?
Just using a rod to support the gun for picture taking. Good idea for a gun stand

Hah,, in 1972,, I was just a few years away from my first experience with a Hawkeye. Mine happened when I was 17,, in 1975.

Looking at other Rugers, the gap of cylinder and frame on the Hawkeye looks greater than others so didn’t know if that was a special thing specifically for the Hawkeye.

There is actually no “cylinder” on the Hawkeye,instead it is a breach block as the cartridge loads directly into the camber that is machined into the barrel. Very cool design and took me most of my life to luck into a deal on mine!

LOL! I read half this thread thinking these were Hawkeye rifles! I was going to add that I have two Ruger Hawkeye rifles, but they are not a matching consecutive SN set.

Well, MANY of us collectors consider it blasphemy that Ruger chose to name their rifles using the Hawkeye name. They SHOULD have built a 50th anniversary Hawkeye pistol, in stainless, and offered them again. Sighhhh!
