Concern After 4 Months?

Just wondering... I placed an order for one of the Flattop BlackHawk 45 convertibles from Lipseys about 4 months ago... At that time, I fully expected to be waiting for a couple of months before the Blackhawk would show up.

Now, I've been waiting for over 4 months, and I'm wondering if I should be concerned about the order ever being fulfilled?

I know that Ruger has big backlogs, but is a wait of 4.5 months (so far) what everyone would consider to be normal in current conditions?

Call them. I continue to see them new in gunstores down here in the SW.

My LGS has had two in the last month. I got one and a buddy got the other.

I bought my SS .45 4 5/8 Conv. FT from them last summer. A fine piece for sure.

Did you place the order with Lipseys directly or via your gun shop? If it was via a gun shop, it may be that your dealer is the one who can't get one.

To clarify : I ordered the 4 and 5/8th barrel stainless steel model.

I think Contender has the answer... I ordered through a smaller LGS, and this is the first time I have ordered through them... It appears that it may just be that they are having some troubles getting the order fulfilled. Every time I ask them for status, they just say that Ruger is backlogged.

I just wanted to ask here to see what the experiences of others might be... It sounds like I have been waiting for a longer time than I should expect.

We may be on to something. Smaller gun shops that do not have a good relationship with a good distributor, (Lipsey's) can have VERY long waits to get something. And, often, their cost is higher due to their low volume purchases.
Unfortunately, it's a business & it comes down to money. A salesman who wants to sell his wares will call upon a buyer who will buy a LOT of stuff on a regular basis. Until supply exceeds demands, your smaller shop may not even get a chance to get a gun.
My suggestion? Shop around, and you may be surprised.

I agree with Contender stick with the big shops for special orders. Around here you have to either travel a 100 miles to a big dealer or wait for the Fall gun show when they come to town.

Back in the day Lipsley required new small dealers to have a minimum purchase 3 or 4 guns at a time for the first year.

Ask if any are in stock. Or just get the one he has on Gunbroker, it's cheaper than Lipsey's MSRP.
You won't have to pay sales tax, if there is any in Texas.
