Figured this would happen sooner or later. Apparently sooner.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) A man dressed as a clown was shot on the city’s southside midday Friday.

Fort Wayne police were called just after 12:30 p.m. Friday to an address at 47o1 Plaza Dr., near Standish Street just south of McMillen Park, on a report of a shooting there. When police arrived they found a man down on the sidewalk in critical condition.

Fort Wayne Police Department spokesperson Michael Joyner said a white colored suv pulled up alongside of the clown. A man was driving. Joyner said the man got out of the car and fired several shots. The man then got back in the suv and headed north on Plaza.

“This isn’t the first shooting that’s happened on this street,” neighbor Joe Wright said. “They happen often down the street.”

Joyner said he doesn’t know why people are dressing as clowns, but he said he suspects fear is a factor across the city.

“I just think it’s crazy. People better take those clown mask off… before the coroner does,” Wright said.

A few weeks back we had two individuals dressed as clowns near our local high school and elementary school. My 9 yr old grandson saw them from the bus that morning on the side of road near a wooded lot. Bus drivers phoned in the sighting and law enforcement moved into the area that day. Not sure if they caught them but people Around my area are not going to take chances with their children. Seems most reports have turned out be pranksters but that's no excuse and a very good way to beg the public to shoot them.

and Halloween is coming up! Have to tell the good clowns from the bad!

I don't think walking down the street in the middle of the day dressed as a clown is in any way a good reason to get shot.

Is it stupid, yes. Is it harming or threatening to anyone, no. I hope they find the shooter and lock them up for good.

I agree with this. I also think the people dressing up like clowns & going around trying to scare people are putting themselves in harms way. Frightened people can be dangerous.

I don't know all the circumstances of this... but...

Anybody who dresses up as a clown... and hangs around a school-bus-stop... with lil'bitty kids waitin' fer the bus... deserves what they get.

Ran into a lucky-clown a whilst back... he ran into me...

We were discussing this at the lunch table at work. I said that if I spotted some jerk in a clown suit lurking in my yard, I'd charge him, stark naked, brandishing a claymore and dirk, and screaming a rebel yell. Might have to clean up some doo-doo in my yard, but it would be worth it.

Is it just me, or is life starting to look like a Stephen Hunter novel?

" . . . Nathan is the hardest Grumley. He served fifteen years of a life sentence, and prison taught him savage ways. Nathan is the best Grumley killer. Onct, he shot a clown. Never figgered out why. I ast him once. He didn't say nothing. I guess he just don't like clowns."

--Stephen Hunter, Hot Springs

Apparently, lots of people don't like clowns, these days. And yes, I have a really, really warped sense of humor (and, on occasion reality). :P

If Ronald McDonald came up my driveway without being invited, I'd plug him; never mind some freaked out ahole waving a machete around. If it don't live here or ain't invited there are consequences.

Add a little blue paint (for "effect") and it's sure to liven up his pace.
Quite a mental picture by the way, too. Thanks. I got a good chuckle out of it.

Snopes.com says "FAKE". The original story came from a fake news site. I don't doubt that there are idiots showing up in clown costumes, but no confirmed fatalities yet. Urban myth.

Seems so yes. But as you say this is happening. This happened just today. http://www.wvalways.com/story/33316474/deputies-fairmont-man-chased-children-while-wearing-clown-mask

If you don't care to read the story the basics where a man in a clown suit chased a group of children with a baseball bat. The children ranged in ages from 6-11 years old. It ended with an altercations between the suspect and a parent where threats where made but no violence. Clown arrested, charged with assault.

I'm hoping it doesn't end with a simple assault charge and the parents are able to take civil action after the fact.
