Close Call

I've thought for a while about selling another gun. Not for any particular reason, but to make space in the safe and to help fund another gun purchase. In fact, I even took pictures and listed it in the Classifieds here.

But then fate took a great turn. My wife came downstairs and I showed her the gun and what I was going to do. She said, "No, she liked this gun," she said, "Don't sell it!" I rushed back to the computer and deleted the post in the classifieds! It is fate because, I know she has never shot this gun, I didn't even realize she knew about it. I certainly couldn't tell which shoes or jackets she has in her closet.

Then I thought for a brief second and ordered another barrel. a three inch 38/357. Right now it has a 3 inch 45/410 barrel.

Thankfully my wife has more sense than I do, so yeah, a close call indeed. It is a fun gun to shoot, and surprisingly accurate. The trigger really isn't too heavy, and the grips are actually hand filling. Plus the weight gives it a nice buffer against the recoil.

Plus they are kind of cute.

I think that is a Bond. My daughter bought one years ago in the 45/410 configuration to repel boarders when fishing in the bayou’s of La. Heavy they are! She puts .410 buckshot in it now, and custom giraffe bone grips. Enjoy Kevin!

Yes, this is a Bond Arms Snake Slayer. Oh yeah, Cholo, I'd forgotten I brought this out with me back in 2019 when I went to Contenders. Fun times.

It is a fun gun to shoot, I've wanted another caliber, I'd love to have the 22 barrel. But Bond Arms doesn't sell them directly, you have to order them through a dealer. I got lazy and bought the 38/357 barrel on Ebay, it's suppose to arrive sometime this week.

Gramps, I bet giraffe bone grips would be awesome on this gun. Do you know where she got them?

Hard to imagine that this small gun doesn't have nasty recoil in either 45 or 357mag. But I always wanted a derringer type gun.

Vito, it's the weight, it just really soaks up the recoil. I have a 38 SP101 with the 2 1/4 inch barrel, the weight is very similar.

And if you hold it just right, the inside of your thumb knuckle will slow the upward recoil on the knurled lever LOL

I sold my early Detonics 45 and my wife is still mad at me. She had adopted it but never told me. I bought her a Glock 26 she didn't like it. I bought her one of the little purple 380 LCPs she's happier now.
