Classic beauty........Colt

They are not my cup of tea, but isn't a Colt Diamondback one of the most classically beautiful guns ever made?? I took it in on trade, and thought I'd share a pic of a purty gun..... :D. It is perfect in every way despite the poor photography.

They're absolutely gorgeous! I have a 6" blue that's not going anywhere. Around here they're bringing about $1200 in excellent condition. NIB about $1500. If you don't care for it, it sure will make good bait for an interesting trade!

I actually think the smaller framed Diamondbacks look better than the Pythons, excluding the nicer Python blue.

Have a six inch blued Python and a six inch blued Diamondback .22 that I purchased in my youth in the mid to late 70s. Don't think I could ever part with either one. They are shot very infrequently but they are still fun to look at and handle. My youngest son, age 6, says they are his. Someday. :) :) :)

That is a very nice example but everything about it screams 'Rambler' to me, right down to the left-hand twist. I just can't warm-up to Colt double-actions. :shock: :shock:

Colt Diamondbacks have a special place in my heart. My parents gave me a 6" nickel plated Diamondback in 22LR for my high school graduation present. It's one of my prized possessions that I won't willingly part with.

Have a 6" I've had for many years. Great gun. I sold the Python but the Diamondback stays with me.

The only reason I am not real fond of the Diamondbacks is ergonomics. They don't fit my hand well, even with aftermarket grips. Must be the grip angle or the hammer/trigger relationship. But, they are darned purty!

I was actually looking for a Diamondback when I stumbled on a 98% 4" Python for $300. (this WAS a couple of decades ago however) Couldn't pass it up and have never regretted it, though I do wish it was 6". Both very nice looking guns. My Python shoots like a dream.

Can't figure out why that bothers so many people (Jimbo's far from being alone!): it's just like a SA, and who doesn't like those?

Never had a Colt, but always liked the looks of all their "Snakes"...
