Anyone have/use one? Thoughts? I am looking at either this or the F1. Can get the F1 for $69 and Beta for $99. Just want a simple chrony to map cast bullet loads (and some jacketed). Primary use will be with cast loads to determine the velocity for loads and leading or lack thereof. Specifically want to chrono 35 Rem loads, and cast loads for Milsurp rifles.

Are there any accessories that make either model much more user friendly and worth the added expense? Thanx

The F-1 reads only one shot at a time and forgets it upon the next shot.

The higher-end models remember strings of 10 shots. The higher-higher end models do statistical analysis. Then, even higher up, you can get computer hook-ups, downloads and printing of results.

I do recommend getting the master/slave unit(s). With the Master models of the F and Beta Chronys you are saddled with a cord connecting the Master and Slave (readout/control and sensor), but it is easier to read with the readout unit next to the shooting station and especially if you are shooting at a range where you have to call "Cease-fire" to turn your unit on and off, the remote unit is very handy.

Also, with a remote unit, you can put your sensor unit under armor. Chronographs are chronically prone to collecting stray bullets.

When you order yours, just don't ask for the Master-Beta unit. It's Beta-Master.

I have the F1 and so far I am very satisfied with it. You do have to write down the numbers, but I can 'write' so not a problem! Then dump the numbers into a spreadsheet and then do the statistical analysis. Works for me. To me the other models don't offer enough to justify the price for just getting the velocity. Just one man's opinion.

I've been using an F1 for several years with no complaints whatsoever. They are built "Ruger tough". Like Rclark, I have no problem using a pencil, but it's my understanding that one can buy the ballistic printer and plug it into an F1 to end up the "high end" unit... (There's a jack on the side for that)

That's my plan for this summer, as my readout is getting hard to "read out" due to splatter from bullet lube and powder pockmarks.. :?

The F-1 reads only one shot at a time and forgets it upon the next shot.
You can make or by a simple switch and stereo plug which plugs into the mini phono jack.
This will let you cycle thru the 10 shot strings, delete any, get Hi/Lo, Avg,SD and spread.
