Mine is the 26 C wt bbl. As is, it has NO throat. Standard length WW or RP cases only work with bore rider bullets, like factory 405 gr and some of the older cast numbers. 300 - 350 gr Hornady and Sierra, seated to the cannelure, won't come close to letting the breach close. I shortened a batch for jacketed loads, cut about 3/16 off. You shouldn't need the Lee crimp die, but that is another variable on the endless list of things to try.
There is an aftermarket safety offered for the #1. I got one, but haven't put it in yet. I will say, it is a beautiful piece of work, and shaped so it doesn't catch the fired case coming out. Ruger could make one just like it, but they don't. The factory unit has sharp edges, catches the fired case, and is quite noisy.
