Available for $1500 about 2 hour drive from me. Is this a good deal? No info on the scope.

I know how this happened. The Factory did it. I am wrong in thinking this was some sort of non factory process.I'll bet Ruger declines repair. That hanger is an integral part of the action repair would require replacement of the action. If that were some sort of warranty thing, they might replace the action. But they will probably touch after this repair, no matter what.

He is absolutely correct. I just checked my two rifles, and both have this weld, and it is a little harder to see on blued models as MIshooter says.Hate to burst anyone's bubble, but that weld is on every No. 1 I own and everyone I've ever seen, at least a couple of dozen. It's part of the manufacturing process and perfectly normal. Blued models are a bit harder to see the weld and it's more obvious on the stainless models.
