I have a set of Chig's grips that I got in a local buy and want to fit them to a Bisley frame. They fit everywhere except the bottom of the grip frame. Does anyone know what Chig's embeds the wood with and can I just grind the excess off and buff them?

He told me he uses a polyurethane finish. So sanding the bottoms down would leave an unfinished surface. You may be able to touch up just the bottoms- it might not even show if you kept the new finish off the side panels. I think the only other alternative would be to fully remove all the finish, fit as needed, and then refinish.
