Checker front strap 1911 Commander

Help Support Ruger Forum:

I don't know, I almost wonder if that's a lost art? Personally, I took a shaped center punch and a couple hours and "stippled" mine since it was stainless, it was a quite secure grip.

I had a Ruger Commander updated with checkered frontstrap, grooved top of the slide, added forward cocking serrations to match the rear serrations by the gunsmith at Johnsons Sporting Goods Adrian MI 517 265 2545. His name is Jack. Did a really nice job and likes checkering. Boy ain't right if you ask me. Ha! I think they posted pics on their facebook page.

I was happy with the outcome. I had him add Novak adjustable and fiber optic front sights as well. I thought pricing was reasonable as well the time to complete. The shop gets in a lot of desirable Rugers too. Contact them through www.johnsonsguns.com
