Anyone else got a bogus charge from this outfit on their old cabelas card? Capital One let it through on a closed account and is reluctant to take it off!

That's on them. If you closed an account, that money is no longer available for you to use. They authorized a payment on a closed account.

Just a quick follow up, the charge was investigated by the Fraud Dept and was resolved to my satisfaction. The scammers just keep getting more creative!

That change to Capital One was a real doozy! I waited a couple of months for my card, and discovered after several calls that it was delayed because the cards were "sent in batches", and mine was to be mailed within 7 days. That was a month ago, and I still don't have it. I had a prepayment in the old card (I do it to prepare for the Christmas shopping), so I imagine they are not in a hurry to send me a card.

Cabela's loss. I didn't buy a single Christmas present from them.

My transition, and my wife's transition to Cabelas Capital One new joint credit card account went without any problems or incidents. They did a really good job.

We never had a bad charge.

We were charged a late fee and another fee of some sort (don't remember what they called it) because my wife mailed the payment (on time) to an address that was apparently no longer valid. When she called CS, they admitted that this had been happening a lot during the change over and "agreed to remove the charges."

That fiasco, coupled with the fact that Cabela's is becoming more and more out of touch with the average shooter/hunter, has me pushing the wifey to drop the card in favor of something more useful. We only spend money there when we have points, and even then have a hard time finding something to use them on.
