I've always enjoyed photography. I used to carry a small camera around, but lately I have to admit I'm using the iPhone camera for day to day pictures.

This little guy was out back on one of my wife's plants this morning. He was cold, so I could get up close to him without jumping away. The colors on the iPhone are pretty good. I didn't do anything to this picture besides crop it. That's why it's more square. Usually a phone takes these tall, skinny pictures. I don't care for that format.

But, the camera feature of these phones keep getting better and better. It's worth getting a new phone every year just to get a better camera.

On the other side of the house, we've had some of the Texas Horned Lizards. There were two but, I haven't seen them in a while. They are a protected species, so I don't get close to them at all.

Really cool pic! These newer phones have amazing cameras. My 2 1/2 year old Samsung Galaxy S9+ has a 12 megapixel camera. Don't know what yours is, but if you don't use too much zoom the detail is simply fantastic!

I, too, no longer carry a 6mp Canon camera, but I do use it for quick pics to post on the net.

Kevin, nice picture of the little guy. Your phone camera can be used in "portrait" or "landscape". All you have to do is rotate the camera 90 degrees to get the wide image instead of the "tall" or portrait pic.

I used to keep a 35mm Canon in my car on the off chance a photo would present itself. My iPhone is always handy, is easier to use and takes a good picture. Nice photo.

Open the camera app, touch the arrow at the top of the screen and you can change from 16:9 to 4:3 or square.

The cameras on modern phones are just plain incredible. I find myself leaving my real camera at home while on trips, as I know my Wife's cell phone takes such remarkable photos, I don't need to burden myself.

And about your Anole Lizard...I kept them as pets while I was a youngster. Mine were very docile, and they seemed to enjoy human attention. Pet stores used to sell them as Chameleons, but they're really not.

I have several of those lizards on my place. I always enjoy seeing them, and allow them to enjoy life here. In fact,, I have several species of lizards here,, and always allow them their space.

The cameras,, well, I enjoy my camera on my phone,, but transferring pics from it to my computer is harder than using my dedicated camera. My Panasonic Lumix is super easy to use. Plug it in, turn it on, and a pop-up prompt tells me to push one button, and my computer automatically reads the camera, shows my pics, and I can select which ones I want to transfer. Check the boxes, click download & done.
My I-phone,, I have to go into my ICloud acct, which is OFTEN slow or unresponsive, and go through several steps to get the pics into ICloud and THEN put them in my picture file on my computer.
Good pics,, but a pain to transfer off my phone. And my phone/Icloud doesn't allow me to select which pics I want to download. It wants to do them all,, and put them all over the place.
And before somebody tries to teach me stuff, I'm very computer stupid to where it's hard to get me to understand the stuff you want me to do. Teaching me computer stuff is the only thing Miss Penny & I have ever gotten into a serious heated argument over. She says I ask too many questions about "Why won't it do???" Or,, Can't I do????" Or the real thing is; "SLOW DOWN so I can see each & every step taken, AND write it down to allow me to remember how to do it later."

Great shot of that anole. We had two of them as 'pets' at one time. My cell phone camera is nearly as good as my Nikon.

With the right apps you can get some really good phone snaps. But the vast majority you see have been extensively shopped.

Call folks on it and they get upset. Too many will spend money time correcting an image than it would take to get a good one from the get go.

That’s a pretty good image. And it proves the hardware is capable. You can spend a fortune on good gear. But it often comes down to ability and not just a little luck

There’s no substitute for being in the right place at the right time.

They are amazing. Something I just learned is you can use the iPhone camera to scan a document.

Go into the note app. Open a new note, press the camera icon, choose scan document.

It’s better and easier to send or print a scan of a document than it is to send a picture of a document.

Interesting. I use notes a lot but never noticed that function.

The pictures on the Iphone do not have to be tall and skinny. Just turn the phone 90 degrees and the photos become short and fat.
