You have seen posts here lately by Hoover about painting me different colors and settling on grey. We'll I'm not one to argue or make a fuss over small stuff, so I just grow old gracefully. I went to Alaska to spend some time with my son. While we were out hunting for wild game we were checking the trail cameras and I always keep my eyes pealed for walking sticks or canes. Last year I got two canes. One was as straight as I am and the other one was as crooked as Tank Hoover. My son found this one for me this year. I pealed it and brought it home to Idaho. It got sanded and sealed and a rubber tip installed.



It got embellished on the end of the handle grip. We all know how callshot brass ends up in weird places. So here is a picture on the latest weird place to find a piece of brass.



I ain't no spring chicken and am getting ready for my old age. Hope all is well with all of you.

It was straight before Steve started walking on it....not sure about "pealed". Deer season starts friday & he's shooting his FA's 41 maggie really good, hope we can find him a "dear".

As I said yesterday, here is a picture of the canes I cut last year. You can see that the first one is as straight as I am. Doc. Birranti got the brass handle for me.



This next one is pretty crooked and kind of reminds me of some of my (friends) ??? I'm not sure of which one it reminds me of the most as they all seem to fit the bill. I'll give Tank Hoover the credit this time, but the rest of you watch out because I might find another one soon.



They are all of red birch. The snow along with other elements in nature determine their shape.

Two things can be said about your sticks. They've got CLASS, they've got CHARACTER!! Drugstore/medical supply sticks are so blah….so cold. All of my sticks are handmade by someone, the last one purchased was made of laurel.

Steve, your canes definitely have character. Perhaps a reflection of their maker.

Shoot Steve, I thought the first picture was of your bum hip after hip replacement and you asked for the old bones when the surgery was done! :lol:

Robb, I still have the section they cut out of my toe during the hammer toe operation! No hip replacement yet. I walk somewhat O.K., but am a bit unsteady and tend to loose my balance on occasion. I do like to be prepared for my old age. That picture does look like a leg bone.
