Buffalo Bore heavy .357 ammo

According to Buffalo Bore on their Heavy 357 Magnum Ammo - 180 gr. Hard Cast LFN-GC:
"This ammo is safe to shoot in ANY all steel 357 revolver - this includes J frames. This ammo is no harder on your gun than any other normal 357 ammo."
Can the LCR .357 handle it?

In limited amounts, it should be fine.

However, the cylinder length may be insufficient to accommodate the cartridge length of the 180gr.

You got that right. 20 rounds of 357 hand loads in my LCR is enough for me and I like heavy recoil, but not in the LCR............................................

It would be better than a J-frame.

I had some delivery problems with BB a year or so back. I'd suggest Underwood instead. http://www.underwoodammo.com/357magnum.aspx

BB is also more expensive by quite a bit. Underwood for this round is $39 for 50, BB is $30 for 20. Do the math.

I use BB quite a bit. As far as the op I believe the SP101 is the lightest gun I'd use that ammo in. With the LCR I'd just make 158's work. They buck quite a bit as it is.

With that short barrel on a LCR I'm not sure the benefit of a heavier bullet would be noticed. Or maybe a heavier bullet would be better..,

I think the OP was asking if the LCR would handle the pressure of the BB.

It seems as though he was wanting to form his own opinion as to whether or not it was the right choice for his application.

It's an excellent load, and even with modest impact speed it can still penetrate significantly (sectional density, baby). :mrgreen:
