British Law Enforcement Using a Ruger Mini

I was watching a documentary on an escape from Northern Ireland's HM Maze prison and while giving a background on the IRA conflict, it showed a British officer wielding a Mini-14 GB or possibly an AC-556. I did not realize the British government even used them. I found that interesting as I figured the officer would have had a L1A1. I paused it and took a photo off the TV, so please excuse the low quality.

Often times they use ‘lesser’ calibers where too much penetration could be troublesome. FAL would qualify as one of those too much H.P. for congested areas.

Probably because the British don't like nasty, evil looking firearms.
