Starlink mini

I have it on my mother's rural home. Zero outages or issues in three years now. We bought the equipment and the service is about 60 dollars more per month than she was paying for slow, unreliable marginal service. It is fast and trouble free so far. I would reccomend it to anyone who is dissatisfied with their current service, and hands down better for rural homes.

What means these words: "...have 1.7 down and 1 mbps up on standby"...?
Apologies, we live in town now and have "cable" for internet, phone and TV"... costs more than the mortgage on my first house....

I figured that, but don't understand the "down" and "up" significance...
THANKS,
J.

Starlink is in orbit. So if you're sending something to someone else it goes up from you, but down to them - this forum for example when you post. If you are receiving something it's down to your phone/pc, whatever. Up is always slower than down because of gravity. ;)

Up / Down goes back to Uploading (what you send) and Downloading (what you receive). That's because the internet and all of the ways to access it are simplex (one way at a time). Some radio "sets" are true duplex and can do both at the same time.
