I grew up on much of the Beach Boys music. And yes,, Brian was the genius behind many of the songs & arrangements. We've truly lost a great one. Yet,, we can easily reflect back,, listen to the songs, and know it'll be timeless & he won't be forgotten.
Yes,, he may have had his demons, but so many people do. Successful & not do successful.
So I'll choose to remember the great stuff he did,, feel compassion for his issues,, and sing & dance to the music!

I have a friend who used to own a 1963 Impala with a factory, 425 HP, dual carb, posi-track 409. We used to make monkey's out of camero's & trans-ams with it.
He once torqued the drive shaft in half. Didn't break the U-joints,, but twisted the shaft in half.
Everytime I hear or think of the Beach Boys 409,, that car comes to mind.

Last night, Miss Penny & I were talking about the Beach Boys & their music. I said that between the beach songs & the car songs,, they identified with a whole generation with fun music and sounds of summer.
Brian was a genius with music for sure.

I was a kid and liked them because they were popular and everybody listened to them. Then came Hendrix and "You'll never hear surf music again" and I followed the crowed into psychedelic music.

I started listening to the Beach Boys golden oldies when I became an adult and was duly impressed with how talented and good they really were. It's great music.

Paul McCartney said "God Only Knows" was the greatest song ever written. That's some high praise.

I played "Pet Sounds" after hearing the news yesterday morning. The genius of Brian Wilson shown bright and shook up the music industry. Much of the album was produced with studio musicians called the Wrecking Crew. The documentary "Wrecking Crew" includes footage of Brian Wilson and the making of "Pet Sounds". RIP

When you think about it, what are the chances of four guys getting together to produce that sound that they had? Or how about the Beatles?

One of the great sounds that I just discovered by accident is the "Dead South".
