Bought a brand new SR45 for $439. It's beefy and capable of any 45acp according to the manual. Haven't had a chance to fire it yet. Looks and feels much like the full-size SR 9 and 40. Detailed cleaned it. Strangely for a new Ruger, it wasn't too grimy inside. The striker cover, which appears to be more precisely cut than my SR9 is easy to remove and replace. One area of concern for now is the magazine lock up. Unlike my SR9, the SR45 mags take a slight nudge to seat properly and there is not that comforting snap into place like the SR9. Of course it could just be my SR45. Interesting is the enclosed manual. You get an SR9/40 manual with a 3 page supplement for the SR45 listing only a few parts and no diagram. Ruger provides its company logo decal as well. Hopefully it functions as flawlessly as my SR9. A unique mag loader comes with the SR45 that works better than the mag loader that comes with the SR9 and 40. Can't wait to burn some ammo.

Sent my new SR45 back to Ruger after owning it for 5 days and shooting 60 rounds. Slide stop wouldn't consistently catch in the notch when you rack the slide with an empty mag in place nor when shooting. Had multiple light strikes and failure to extracts plus the front dovetail was cut off to one side of the slide. Ruger will have had the gun for two weeks on Wednesday. Haven't heard anything from them yet. Really like the gun, just not happy with the quality control.
I have one, and I haven't shot mine yet either...I just bought it on Saturday, and it will be a while before I can.
I did notice that the gun seemed very clean inside...I removed the magazine disconnect and checked the striker channel, and it seemed clean.
I have noticed that when I insert a fully loaded magazine (10 rounds) into the pistol with the slide closed, it seats with just a slight push to get it to lock in. Usually, on a new gun, it's hard to get a fully loaded magazine to seat as easy as this one does with the slide closed. I don't know if that means anything or not. I was able to get all ten rounds in both magazines...not hard at all...which is unusual for new magazines.
The other thing I have noticed is when the loaded magazine is seated, the magazine release button is loose...I first noticed a slight rattle and found that the button has a little bit of slack side to side. I took the magazine out, and it has the same slack, just a little not much, but it doesn't rattle with the magazine out. I assume because it isn't contacting the magazine.
On mine, the slide does lock back easily and consistently with an empty magazine. As far as I can tell from a visual examination, everything else is OK.
I've never used the loader that comes in the box. I always use an UpLula, and it has spoiled me. In fact, I have two...one in my desk and one in my range bag. I don't know if I could load a magazine by hand any more! :lol:

GOT ONE TODAY. 469 + TAX. FIRST ONE I SAW--THE ONLY ONE THEY HAD. now when galloway gets the stainless guide rods in, i will place an order there and have at it.
Had mine since the second week of January and I have a couple hundred rounds through it. I guess I got lucky, no issues of any type. Oh yea, except that the slide catches during break down and re assembly. It was not there before I started shooting, so I'm hoping it wears in. I had the same issue with my SR9c and it worked it's way out. I currently have all the Gallaway upgrades on order (waiting on the guide rod and spring to ship) for my SR45. He stopped taking orders for now.

The only thing I've noticed about mine so far, and I've only broken it down a few times, is that the trigger has to remain in the forward position. If not, the slide won't clear the lever in the frame that lifts the magazine disconnect in the slide. That is just a procedural error on my part, not that the slide was binding on something.
Judging from the marks I can see, it appears to be the bottom of the barrel to the seat in the frame. Metal to medal. The slide goes forward a 1/4 inch and hangs there. Started after the first time I shot it and appears to be getting better with use. First time it happened, it took quite a bit of force and manipulation to get the slide off and on. Now it more of a catch.

I just broke mine down again, and while there is just the slightest bit of catch, it requires no force to remove the slide at all. It's almost like a friction catch...but since I am holding the pistol level, I don't know if the slide would slide off on its own if it was pointed downward.

Well crap, I missed out on an SR45 at an Austin gun show this morning.
Wasn't able to attend this weekend, but yesterday posted on an Austin forum & asked some local guys online if they had seen any.
One fellow posted "live" from the show this morning at 11:30am that he saw one on a dealer's table for $439. But I didn't see his post until this evening.

Couldn't resist putting another 50 rounds through the SR45 since we've cleaned up the 30 inches of snow around here. Now 150 rounds with nothing but amazement at the smooth, accurate big brother of the SR family. The only problem is the 150 rounds of Speer Lawman TMJ 230gr costs nearly $70. This is a great gun. If you like the SR series you'll love the SR45. Feels like the SR9 only noticeable difference being the report and muzzle blast. Recoil is minimized by the low bore axis design. Never fired a 45acp that allows controlled double tap as well as the SR45. Can't say enough about this gun.

Can't compare the SR45 to those pistols as I've never shot them. The SR45 is certainly broader in the beam than the classic 1911, but ergonomically it is very similar to the SR9 or SR40-that is nice and comfortable.

shot mine for the first time today. 20 degrees and a cold north wind--snow fluries. 100 rounds fmj was flawless and very accurate.not a hint of a problem including cleaning afterwards. all i can say is wow. shoots out as well as the SR9 and SR40 if not better. i continue to be impressed with the SR series. i prefer these to weapons i paid twice as much for. not saying the others are bad, just that these suit me right down to the ground.

Put another 100 rounds down range with my SR45 and had no issues. This puts me at 400. Shot it seated with a sand bag and man is this gun dead on. The stock trigger is great. Very smooth and with trigger control, very short.
When I got home my Gallaway upgrades were waiting for me. Cleaned everything, then started upgrading. New ejector pivot & spring, trigger spring, Ghost ultimate trigger reset bar, stainless loaded indicator rod and a stainless recoil guide rod and a 18lb spring. I also polished the trigger connecting bar and the feed ramp. Feels great dry firing, but I can't wait to test it out live. I may have to make a mid week stop at the range to test it out.
New recoil guild rod and spring took the catch out of it. Put stock back in and it catches. Went back to theGallaway and no catch.
Got my repaired SR45 back from Ruger today. They replaced the slide, repaired the slide stop assembly and test fired 40 rounds through it with no failures. The slide seems to be latching back now like it should. I'm off to the range on Tuesday to put 100-150 rounds through it. I'll report back with the results.
Yeah, I read your post and note the replaced part and repair. Did Ruger provide an explanation for the multiple light strikes and failure to extract? Or is the new slide included with a new striker and a new extractor added ? After 800 rounds, Prescott replaced the slide and extractor on my LCP citing "tolerance" issues. Ruger didn't supply any explanation concerning the light strikes or failure to extract, just a note to not use cheap bulk ammo and only use quality ammo made in the USA. I don't know if the new slide included a new striker assembly or not. The repair sheet only stated the slide was replaced and the slide lock assembly was repaired. I put 150 rounds through it today at the range. Ammo shot was 50 rounds each of Magtech, Sellier & Bellot and Blazer aluminum cased. In the first 80 rounds I had one failure to extract resulting in a jam and several times the slide locked back before the magazine was empty. The last 70 rounds shot were flawless, 50 of which were the Blazer aluminum cased. Maybe the gun just needs a few more rounds to break in properly. I'll clean it good and run another 150 through it and see what happens.
Cleaned up the SR45 and put another 200 rounds through it, Sellier & Bellot, Magtech and Blazer aluminum. I had one light strike with the Sellier & Bellot. Primer had a nice dimple in it, I reloaded it and it fired on the next attempt. Twice the slide locked back with rounds still in the mag and I'm beginning to think it's my thumb hitting the slide release. The last 120 rounds were flawless. Gonna clean it up again and run another 150-200 through it being mindfull of where my thumb is. I really like this gun!!
