Frosty up here in the great White North this week Minus 10 last nite with a stiff breeze.
Today's high is expect to be single digits again breezy. More of the same for the same
for the 10 day outlook. Wood stove is working overtime. ps
 
A balmy -8 when I got up this morning. Checked the weather at Bigfork, Minnesota (the closest town to my cabin)..... -33.
 
From my experience, once you get below 5 degrees no. 2 oil freezes. Then once you go below 0 it doesn't really matter how much below 0 it is. It's dangerous cold. Keep the fires stoked and be safe out there.
 
It's 0˚ here in Olathe Kansas where I work. I piled on the covers last night at home in my 3rd floor apartment and had on flannel pants, socks and a tee shirt when i went to bed. Had the humidifier going in the bedroom too, since the air is as dry as a popcorn fart.
 
-8 degrees this morning in Brodhead WI....never have liked it... :(

I don't like anything below 32F and supposed to be down in the teens here in Va. for next week!
Seems the older you get the colder you feel in the Winter and of course my dog doesn't EVER forget about his morning and evening walks!!!
 
I'm about 100 miles north of St. Louis and it's -4 here today! That's okay, in 6 months it's liable to be +104! We get the extremes some times.
 
-12 when I got up and -13 at 8am leaving for work in West Michigan. Dog didn't want to go out.
 
We were about zero last night and it had warmed up to about 24 at 11:00.
At 11:30 it was up to 44 degrees. Twenty degree up-swing in less than a
half hour. Something about a front coming past. Wind went from near
zero to WAY above ten mph (forecast to be in the 30mph range) as the
front went past.

I'm happy with the 44 degrees for this time of year. :wink:
But not near so much the wind. :roll:
 
Been a long time since I’ve experienced those kind of temps. Won’t be long before some smart a$$ will chime in and tell you it is 59 and cloudy at his location.

I just noticed you are in Milo. My dad had a cabin there It was off a main rd leading to Schoodic Lake. Lots of moose. I used to get raw milk from a dairy farm there
 
Here in Middle Tn it is 27 degrees and sunny with 8 mph winds. They said on the radio it was BITTER COLD. Ha! This is Summer in the arctic! Proper clothing makes it all good!

Had to wear a hard hat yesterday in the 20 degree temps and I forgot my beanie to go under it. Man my head was cold. Not much natural insulation left.
 
Huntsman, I really like your decorating job in your room!! Maybe you could call my wife and give her some pointers. :lol: I have a good stash of locust and elm in the garage I have been saving for just these kind of days. Supposed to be near zero in the morning , then throw in a little wind and the wood stove struggles to keep up, gas furnace then kicks in. Looks like you have a large pot on the stove, for moisture I am assuming?
 
It got down to 36 this morning here in the desert... ;)

Seriously... My last winter in Maine (Bangor) saw -42 degrees with dead calm for some two weeks on end. Everything that can freeze froze, and everything that can't freeze froze. I had an Ashley Automatic wood stove and 10 cords of Maple/Beech/Oak, so we keep the kitchen from freezing.

I was working on school buses at the time... We had to do around the clock starting on the things to make sure they'd go in the morning. Otherwise they'd just frost the spark plugs and that'd be that. Changing out air filters and spark plugs in -42 is real short on my list of 'fun' things!

I left Maine after that winter and decided I'd stay south of the Mason-Dixon line for evermore. ;)

Stay warm up there guys. I might take the Heritage out for a ride tomorrow... ;)

I grew up in Memphis and although we had a few times where it got really cold, they were rare..I joined the USAF in 1972 and was sent to Cheyenne, WY...I found out what cold was, along with an incessant wind..

Tonight I was at Wally World and the old guy in me wanted to go around telling people to put on coats and shoes worthy of the freakin' cold outside...it's expected to last at least another week to week and half here..and frankly,most of these folks aren't used to it.
