I was curious to see if anyone has one and what they thought of it in general. Luckily we can get them in california. I have one with 5 barrels and love taking it out from time to time. I have roughly 350 rounds through it.

Barrels I have...
3 inch 38/357
2.5 inch 9mm
2.5 inch 22lr
2.5 inch 22 magnum
3 inch 45 colt

Since I dont plan on getting into a shootout at 50 yards I'd say your right.

Just pickin' on ya.

I like Derringers. For some reason none have ever come my way though.

I've heard of them being described as "Navel Destroyers".

I figured you were pokin me in the chops lol. It's a niche gun for sure but I do have fun with it at the range. The 45 Colt rounds produce a slight fire ball lol.

I agree. I was thinking the 45 colt was going to be really harsh and was surprised when I fired it. Not bad at all. The only one I haven't shot yet is the 357.

A lot of tails about the recoil, which I don't think is "bad at all"!

Just HAD to do it, din-cha!
:D

Followed the assortment of Bond Arms videos and what to my wondrous
eyes did appear? The Bond Arms Bull-pup! Formerly known as the
Boberg. - - Now THAT has my attention!

The video from 2017 SHOT show is well worth watching! They anticipate
May or June, but make note of several improvements in the Boberg
design. - - - Also followed the trail into the Boberg 45 and watched them
shoot that one. WOW! I'm seriously impressed!

One of the largest (to me) improvements is the list of "approved" ammo!
In fact, it is more like a small list of "we don't recommend" (aluminum
and steel cased). The say a good choice of range ammo is the Winchester
white box! Boy that's going to be hard to find.

They also say they will be slightly below the Boberg price and anticipate
prices going down as they build manufacturing capacity. 8)

DANG! Start saving now and I should be able to get one shortly after
they come out. 8)

OH MY... OH MY... OH MY!

Looks like Bond Arms is expanding their base?

Now.. I'm an old man of 68 who is broken, fragile, can't run or fight. I'm viewed as an easy target... any attack on myself will be close quarters. I firmly believe I can hit my target at arms reach... in other words, I will stick that little derringer in you nose or ear and pull the trigger. How effective would you think this would be compared to a real "defensive gun"?

The 410 is a handful Winchester makes a defensive that has buckshot stacked with
a metal washer between each piece of buck shot. Fun to shoot just hang on :D ps

A friend has one in .45 Colt he carries in a crossdraw holster strictly when he's driving.

I've shot it and recoil wasn't at all bad, but the trigger was horrible. Absolutely the worst I've ever seen on a handgun.

Well, I thought about a derringer myself, in fact had one for a while, then
decided it was not the best . . . for me. That's why I am enthused about
the bull pup. Seven plus one round count, reasonable (at least every
review I read says so) trigger and real close to the size of a three inch
double. I also read that it has quite acceptable recoil, in fact with a .45 ACP
it rises far less than I would have believed, until I watched the video.

Everything I read and see says they have improved the reliability from
the Boberg version, and they started delivering small quantities late last
Fall. I hope to be able to find one in the next few months (I signed up for
their news letter so I hope to get updates as they come available).

A Derringer with a 4 1/4" barrel, kind of an oxymoron isn't it?

No, not really.. the frame on the Bond is larger than the old derringers and is a good balance.

I modified the cross draw holster by replacing the velcro tab with a sewn back loop to tilt the holster up at about a 30 degree angle...
Yes, as the derringer comes from Bond, the trigger is very hard to pull and the hammer main spring is way to strong! I removed coils of the spring to get an easier trigger pull.. also to reduce the effort it takes to cock it.
The pistol was disassembled, polished and oiled and greased with TS-70 and synthetic oil.
This was a great improvement!

Here are the times at SASS Winter Range Championship.
The Derringer is on a table in front of you . You pick it up and fire two rounds.
I have known and shot with Waterloo and his wife Hey You for several years. Both are pretty quick with all guns

DERRINGER
MEN
Waterloo 0.43
WOMEN
Hey You 0.69

SPEED PISTOL
MEN
TWO HANDED
Waterloo 3.09
Draw and fire 5 rounds from first pistol holster and repeat with second pistol. Pistols are Ruger Vaqueros single actions

I call the trigger different lol. It's a down and back motion as apposed to straight back. It takes getting use to. I take it to the range a couple times a year...always have fun with it :)

My problem with Bonds are they are huge for derringers. It seems a lightweight j frame is just as small and light and you have 5 rounds.
