Boddington series

There are currently 2 complete, unfired sets of the Craig Boddington African Series Rifles for sale. The best price is on GB for $6500 = $1300/rifle. These are unfired guns in the boxes, etc. How much would firing them depreciate the collective value? I would think as long as they stay together as a whole the value would at least stay the same or maybe even increase over time? I fear the days of the #1 are marked and we should buy every one we come across as long as it is "reasonably" priced. What are your thoughts on this?

I bought my 450NE as a shooter (NIB for $950). The price definately seems high but I am assuming they are all serial numbered the same so for SOMEBODY having the set might be worth it. Cash talks so you might get a little better than the asking price. Shooting will lower value to anybody that buys them for their "collecter" potential!

Use will always take away some value. How much is all on the buyer at a later time. Personally, if you buy to tuck away as an investment, you do that - tuck it away. If you buy to have, collect or whatever AND to shoot, you simply need to accept the depreciation possible compared to it not being used. If the use is greater in personal satisfaction and enjoyment than whatever loss of $ might be, it's all good. Money isn't everything.
