Ruger has dropped the SFAR series

Looks like Ruger has removed the entire lineup of SFAR rifles from their website, perhaps going to introduce a 308 Win Harrier?

What do you make of all these model changes/deletions?

Just like the .308 auto they made in the 1980s, discontinued shortly after introduction.

Probably wouldn’t have dropped it if it was profitable.
Maybe they’ll bring something like it back using the Anderson assets they bought.

Right now, all the AR Mfg's, distributor, dealer's are all struggling. Bulk Reman ammo mfg's are struggling. And they will for a few more years. All AR's are coming down with exeption of boutique AR's. If HK MR556 will come down jus a little, I will own one!!

Some months ago, was seriously considering the purchase of the SFAR rifle but began hearing reports of those who had purchased them having problems. I have the piston driven version of Ruger in 5.56 and it is a fine firearm, but it as an offering that is not being mfg. anymore. So, what did I do, purchased a Daniel Defense Mod 5/V4 in 7.62 NATO caliber and it is a very solid, accurate rifle. With Leupold FX III 6x scope and mount the firearm comes in at a weight of nearly 12 pounds which is quite heavy for I will be 83 early next month. At my age no more hunting or me but do go to the rifle range on a regular basis and only carry the rifle from the car to a firing point, so it is fine for that. If Ruger would produce a solid AR10 version I would consider one after reading positive reviews by experienced shooters of same.

And on the other hand, I refused to buy the Ruger piston driven AR cause in my circle it was a total failure in every respect. And hideously over priced.

But I snagged a SFAR the first month they were out and it was flawless. LOL.

I was wondering if the SFAR was going to be going away. I looked a bit ago, and it was still on their website around the new year, so that's unfortunate. Maybe I'll pick up a used one eventually.

Ruger had a nice AR-10 the SR-762, seems like the SFAR was kinda of train wreck with
reliability, I never understood why Ruger went down the AR-Road anyhow?? Plenty of other builders that make AR's. But the SR series rifles were great, sr-556, sr-762 and the sr566 takedown were badass.

Been thinking about the SFAR, but all the negative experience online was keeping me away from it... not as easy to "send it back" if you're not in the US, nor getting aftermarket parts to tune it. Luckily I've been pretty much broke since then, so I didn't have to worry anymore.
Wondering what Ruger comes up with, I also think this is a pause before some updated version.

At my local range there are several shooters that own and do indeed like the SR556 Ruger piston driven rifle. It is a bit heavier than the gas version of AR 15's by it is accurate even though it has a 9-twist barrel which is more suited to using 55gr bullets, but it does well with 77gr as well.

The SFAR is a completely different rifle than the SR556 and in a different caliber.

I agree. I have an SR-762 an it is a fantastic piece. Very accurate as well.
