eon's ago... (before I became controversial.....)....
And shortly after I joined this group.. I was bsy cleaning up my fathers scrap yard. It took a few years as scrap prices dropped so low it wasn't worth the time to cut...
Pop had an old link belt speeder, to move stuff around and load the scrap trailer etc... It ran fine, except the drive chain was gone...
I tried in vain to find it a home....
Ultimately I had to cut it up... what I thought would take a few weekend took a month... Lots of steel in those critters...
It turned out for the best... I made a boat load of money from that old gal.....

Looks like a lot of work. Reminds me of a story. My friends had a small dragline they kept on there farm to clean out drainage ditches. No one lived at the farm where the drag line was parked in the middle of a field. A co-worker of mine that drove past their property told me someone was cutting it up, so I called them and informed them of it. They said they had noticed someone had driven out and cut the lock off of the door with a torch but did not damage anything else. Must have been the scrappers checking it out before they cut it up. Turns out a neighbor also had a drag line setting on his farm and scrappers ask to cut it up and he gave them permission. But they were talking about my friends drag line. Needless to say they cut up the wrong drag line. OUCH!!Had to call the law in and contact the scrappers. Not sure how much money they got paid for it.

Those dang scrappers!!......
Yeah, I can see that happening... I went to the farm to cut one day and found a couple guy's with torches and a bobcat cutting up the bucket arms to my tractor... they left in a hurry....
cutting that up was one tough job.... but it was nice making an extra 400 bucks or more every weekend.....
scrap was going for about $170 a ton, prepared.... at that price I wasted no time...
