Can anyone tell me the production year of a super blackhawk with a serial # 80-64523? It looks like maybe a 1973 production, but has the new safety, different sights. I know sights can be aftermarket. It has 6 3/4" barrel. In the box with the manual. What is the value or collectibility of this piece?

It was made in the last year of the old models; 1973 and should have 3 screws on the right side of the frame indicating it is an "Old Model". If it has a transfer bar safety, it was sent back to the factory and converted. It can be converted back with original parts. A 6 3/4" barrel is non-standard. Collectribility has been lost.
Value depends on percentage of original finish and originality. I need to know about the finish but I'll say in the $300 area more or less depending on finish.

I question where you measured the barrel. Did you measure it from the muzzle to the inside portion of the cylinder frame or to the front of the mainframe? The correct way to measure one is to include all of the barrel that goes through the mainframe. It should be 7-1/2". If you didn't include that portion,, and it is an unmodified barrel,, and the condition is good,, and has got the original lockwork,, then it's a very good gun to have.

Good call contender! Yes, the barrel length is the entire length of the bore. I've never heard of anyone cutting off a barrel to 6 3/4", contender has to be right. W/o measuring the piece of barrel screwed into the frame, a 7 1/2" barrel would measure about 6 3/4".
