Hi guys, first time posting, but have been lurking for a while. I have a Blackhawk new model that is giving me a bit of a problem. When you start to pull back the hammer, the cylinder will start to rotate. If you leave off of the hammer then try to pull it the rest of the way it will not move. You have to spin the cylinder a little by hand then it will work fine. The pawl has been filed for the free wheel mod. I'm guessing the problem is there, but not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The pawl is causing that issue would be a good guess.
Midway sells them for about $2.50.
I cant see any good reason for a free spin pawl and I am a Cowboy Action Shooter (not a gamer though).

Check the transfer bar as it moves up, if it hits the firing pin ,the base pin (the pin through the cylinder) is not properly seated or the small pin in the base pin is not functing properly. The small spring loaded pin pushes the transfer bar back to clear the firing pin. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys. I will have to check out the transfer bar, as well as the pin. Chuck, the free spin pawl is a great mod for a hunting setup. Escpecially in a DG hunting situation. If a bullet jumps crimp, you can just turn the cylinder backwards to remove the round.

You won't see a free spin on any of mine.

Got ya. By the way, I just tore the gun apart. Looking at the pawl it was very rough and had a small bur. I lightly filed the pawl and polished it with a dremel. While I was in there I polished the trigger parts and now everything is working fine. Very nice trigger pull too. Thanks for the help.
