Blackhawk cylinder stop/ timing question

I have a flattop Blackhawk 357. The cylinder stop comes up well before the notch it fits into. There is a cutout in the cylinder before the notch . My cylinder stop comes up before this cutout. Is this the way these flattops are? My new model Blackhawk and other makers revolvers the cylinder stop pops up just before the notch. While I got this gun used I see no signs of any work on it and from the dried on oil inside it looks like I am the first to disassemble it ??

clean off any and all " the dried on oil", and try it again,make sure it is "re-oiled " ( lubed lightly) the cylinder stop should stay down and pop up into the "lead" ( the curved area just before the actual "notch") could be worn, pawl short, , etc., if any doubt have a GOOD gunsmith check it out..the New models the cylinder stop jumps up almost immediately, NOT stay down like an old Ruger or Colt single action of days gone by...........

glad that worked out...over the many years I 've been doing firearms service, all too often, just a simple cleaning, mainly a GOOD soaking, in something as simple as 'kerosene' and then re oiling it, does the trick...same goes for the actions of semi auto 22 rifles.....time and neglect are not a guns friends, they harden, crust up, lock up or rust in place..........saved many a folk LOTS of money over the years with this simple advice, like to pass it on..........
