How tough is it to find a single action 357 Bisley SS? I know they quit making them but it seems it'd be more comfortable to shoot than the GP100.

I bought a nice one last month, new condition from the Classifieds here. This was a 7.5in blue model from 1998. Usually Bisley 357s can be found on Gunbroker. The stainless 5.5in models show up now and then. Prices seem to be $450 - $650.

Probably not what you're thinking of but they do show the New Vaquero .357 SS Bisley still available.

If you are not set on stainless, I have one of the hard to find fluted cylinder 7 1/2" 357 bisleys that is unfired that I had in the forum classifieds for $600 shipped and it can be paid for in two payments.

Just a thought if you are looking for the adjustable sighted version.

Bud's Gun Shop has SS 357 Bisley Vaqueros in stock right now. BH's are little harder.

And to clarify - it's the mid-frame New Vaquero, not just Vaquero (as in large/original/old), regardless what wording the ads and literature use these days.

I believe that the stainless 5 1/2" barreled Bisley Blackhawk was a special Lipseys run. Not many made. You might have to make one up yourself by buying the frame, hammer and other parts and swaping them out. However, regular 357 Blackhawks only come with 4 5/8" or 6 1/2" barrels and flutted cylinders. Everything should be a near drop in fit, but there is a lot of hand fitting of the grip frame to match the cylinder frame, though.
I have been trying find the 44 Magnum version for a while and that's the route that I may take unless I find one of the new 3 3/4" Bisley SBHs.

I just shot my 357 bisley tonight and it's a king kong of 357's.Mine is a blued 71/2 in. and I have been getting it ready for hunting season.(read 357 heavy) by Paco.I have adj. sights and need them cause I change loads on this gun a couple times a year.I can put my nuclear loads in this one and I know it'll take em.It came with a geat trigger pull,Just took off one leg of the trigger return spring and it was good to go.I couldn't live without this one so if you find one,pay the money.Best wishes,Glen

They are limited edition guns from Davidsons/Talo/Accu-Sport. Relatively low numbers in 357, even for the limited editions. That said, they do show up on gunbroker, etc. Get your wallet out and don't be shy on a BUY NOW that you can tolerate.

I spent some yankee dollars to convert 5.5 inch 44 SUPER BLACK HAWKS to this configuration, back in the 90s, and shot the h*** out of them before I got interested in Original Size VAQUEROS...also 5.5 inch 44 magnums (and a couple of similar 357s.)

FWIW I think Ruger should make more 5.5 inch guns...it is the perfect length for a field gun that is carried regularly...like Elmer Keith's famous #5 Colt Single Action Army.

Bisley Vaqueros are awesome. They are my wife's preferred guns for Cowboy Action Shooting (I shoot Blackhawks).

Good luck finding one, much less TWO!

I used to be a big single action guy because they were more comfortable to shoot than a S&W revolver, but have found the GP100 with the Hogue grips is the most comfortable to shoot .357 I have ever tried.

I also think that the standard Blackhawk grip has less felt recoil than the Bisley grip.
