Hi,

Singer-songwriter Bill Withers has passed, at the age of 81.

While his name may not seem so familiar, especially to many here, we've all heard at least a couple of his '70s hits, Ain't no sunshine when she's gone and Lean on me. One article I saw mentioned something I'd never heard before, that he was a nine year veteran of the US Navy, leaving not long after we started getting heavily involved in Viet Nam. A great talent, he'll be missed. RIP, Sir.

I think his name is very popular among Vietnam era folks. My mind easily replays his music floating down the hallways of my cement barracks in the middle of the night.

May he Rest in Peace.

I liked him. I even had all the "I Know I Know"'s down pat and would sing them every time like men beat the air drums to In the Air Tonight. Bill Withers was pretty cool, RIP...

Yes his music appealed to us old farts. I think music is that way through each decade. Even now I listen to more 60's, 70's, and 80's music. Don't even mind a little doo-oop.

As I grew up all around the music business, I knew his music quite well. A talented songwriter & singer. His music will live on forever. I enjoyed the ending of the nightly news,, playing "Lean on Me" as they showed footage of people across the country fighting the beer virus!

Thanks for the Music & RIP Bill!

Never heard of the man, but familiar with the music. RIP sir, thank you for the songs that expressed our feelings better than we could. Prayers sent for the family.
