Pretty fancy work... but just about as useful as a bicycle is to a fish.
When I was a kid, I thought that a big, bad knife was just what I needed..... local sporting goods store had a Puma "White Hunter" that looked just about right. After one season, it got relegated to the drawer, and I went back to the fixed-blade Case I used before.... about a 3-1/2 inch blade, as I recall. Live and learn.
That damascus work comes close to matching the skill of barrel makers at the end of hte "twist barrel" period, who could have a name show up repeatedly in the pattern.
Quite frankly I think it would make putting up a hasty shelter a lot easier. It would go good on the belt opposite my BBQ gun too. It is a nice knife, but one I can't afford right now. I have several of that size now. Short machetes.
