I thought we should revive this thread
While our family didn't do much BBQ, often a family gathering was a venue for showing off recently acquired guns-sometimes followed by an impromptu shooting match . At one of these, one of Mom's Cousins showed up with a Colt 22 pistol and was bragging long and loud of it's superior accuracy. Finally Dad pointed at me and said "Go get my pistol". His 'pistol' was a High Standard HD-M that I was pretty handy with and the Cousin and his Colt didn't have a chance. 
I'm no longer a revolver guy but do have what I consider one or two BBQ guns. But I'm not sure my semi-autos match up to the looks of the revolvers posted here. I will be helping host a 'stump shoot' in two weeks and will probably be wearing one at that.... it is a cold shoot where folks can only handle loaded guns on the firing line except for the Range Officers.

Picked up this Service Six in rough shape. Cleaned it up and did some repairs, then dressed it up with new shoes. Shoots POA at 15 yards. She's a keeper. I haven't brought it to a BBQ but I have taken it on a few hikes into the north woods in New Hampshire.
When it comes to genuine BBQ guns, the gun in question either is or it ain't. Nothing that has been posted so far is....Don't get me wrong, we've seen some nice sidearms in this thread, but BBQ guns they ain't....just sayin'.

My late friend and fellow peace officer : Mack West always wore a 1911 with a Stacey Becknell carved rig, to work and otherwise.
My tastes run more along the line of a saddle tan basketweave rig, ( both gun belt and pants belt ), a custom belt buckle made by Shot Branham, a Colt Combat Government Model with a set of genuine Colt handcuffs in a case.
I've worn these over years on both patrol and office duty. And yes, we got to wear starched jeans, Justin roper boots and Dress shirt for work......Ahhhhh , those were the days.

I think I agree with you. The guns shown are nice. But I would think a BBQ gun would have a little extra zing in its appearance.
I don’t have one that comes close either.
About the only time it would be taken out is for a BBQ. I don't like engraved grips, but I could get behind a little scrimshaw on these mammoth ivory panels.

Pair of Colt Navy 1851's 2nd gen. First wife gave to me for 10th anniversary in 1978 had Sam Cherry engrave a few years ago then had Turnbull refinish, blued. case harded, and nickeled. Wife died in 1982 at 39 years old leaving me and 3 kids. She wanted them engraved but life got in the way.

warren5421, I've never been a fan of engraved guns but those two '51s are causing me to rethink my opinion... really nice!

Someone fancied this one up in the early 70's I think. Pre model 40, Spegel grips, chrome plated.

I think those engraved, brass frame, 1851's and that Texas Sesquicentennial Colt .45 most definitely qualify as BBQ guns.

You know, the whole aspect of revolvers being more historical?
Better add T. A. Workman's Zapata #100 Vaquero and arcticruger's Alaska Super Blackhawk to the list. Both beautiful guns. For me, revolvers are what first come to mind when I think of a BBQ gun, but I've seen some real nice 1911's that would easily qualify.

I'd give it BBQ status, but that's usually reserved for blued 1911's when it comes to semi auto handguns. Well, according to me, anyway
The wood on that grip is amazing! Beautiful gun all around.
