I recently bought a Ruger New Model Blackhawk from a friend. The base pin latch was missing so I ordered one from Midway. When I look in the hole for the base pin, nothing shows and the base pin won't latch. Did I install the latch wrong? I ordered a new Belt Mountain pin and it doesn't latch either.

Did you get all 3 parts of the base pin latch ASSY? (Two halves & the spring?) Did you get them installed in the correct side? Just asking,,,!

Almost the same thing happened to me yesterday, picked up a used single six I had bought online. The spring in the latch was on the wrong side.
The screw goes in from the right side and the spring and nut on the left side.
