I just bought this thing...I can't seem to identify what is cut on the end of this barrel. It seems to be some kind of quick disconnect but what is this called? What products can work with it? Is there an adapter or?

Thanks!

Ya..its a ruger charger. It looks like someone had that done to the barrel. Not from factory. I'm trying to figure out what I can buy to put on there..what make/model suppressor or adaptor do I need to get to use with a regular threaded suppressor or is this some custom thing and I just need to thread the barrel?

Based on the finish, my guess is it's a state compliant model. Ruger does a very similar thing with the state compliant 22/45 Lite models. If there are no other divots in the groove, could probably buy a brake that attaches with 2 set screws; groove might be intended for an o-ring to retain a faux thread protector like it is on the compliant 22/45s.

Would help to know WHICH Charger model it is (Ruger uses that name for several lines) to understand which accessories might fit it.

ETA: if it's a 10/22 Charger, cheapest route is almost certainly buying a replacement barrel unless you already own threading tools.

Did something similar to a Colt HBAR post ban using a set screw held on muzzle brake bought from Dillon. Finally had the barrel threaded by Silencer central. Threaded barrels are cheap if you want to go that route.

Those detents go all the way around with that spacing. It just seems like it would cost way more money to mill the end of a barrel like that than it would to thread the barrel. So Why? There has to be a use for that other than a set screw brake...

Did some more searching. KAC QDC mount is a similar design, you'd need to measure a lot to determine if that's what this machining is designed to be compatible with.

Even then, I'd buy a barrel that's threaded and move on. Don't see a point in playing tacticool on a .22 pistol.

I think you might be right...that really looks like it. I do have 2 other barrels I will probably just thread one of them like you said and throw this in the closet. THANKS!

Probably won't cost any more to have the barrel cut behind that 'whatever it is' before threading and leave your spare barrels unmolested.
I agree with those who commented this may be a work around for those places where a 'threaded barrel' isn't legal.
