so i did used the caliper from the word go, just had the wrong freakin info. i had that sinking feeling in my stomach, as i looked up at all that work for naught!
Hi,
We've all had that feeling if we've loaded much... and I'm convinced anyone who says he hasn't is either a real wet behind the ears newbie, or being a bit reckless w/ the truth!
Now, here's a "Do as I say, not as I do" suggestion:
In your loading notes book, or perhaps in a spreadsheet or database program, set yourself up w/ a chart that shows each bullet by average weight, diameter, overall length of the bullet itself, and overall length of the loaded round it's to be used in. You could also assign a "catalog number" to each bullet if you wish and add more info, such as brand, alloy, lube, etc. if you want to be really complete about it. That way, if you end up w/ some bullets in the wrong baggie or box (yup, I know how THAT happens, too!

), you've got some extra cross reference info to ID what you have and how to use it.
I said "...not as I do" cuz it's taken a couple of false starts to get my loaded round spreadsheet close to complete. Bullet sheet's coming next. It's amazing how much stuff gets "lost" in the notes over time!
Good luck!
