Anyone Updating Adobe Flash Player?

What is anyone doing about updating Adobe Flash Player? Seems they want us to uninstall the old Flash Player and sign up for a new Flash Player subscription. I just checked to see what it was about and it seems like we are going to have to pay for something that used to run for free. Is my computer going to stop playing nice with video? :?

I'd get rid of it altogether. FlashPlayer is EOL this month and Adobe will stop issuing security updates; look for Microsoft to remove it from standard Windows installs in the near future if they haven't already. FlashPlayer is obsolete, most of the video-playing web has moved on to another standard.

Will I notice when it is gone? How can I tell if I have another flash or video player. I do a lot of video with my hat cam and I spend a lot of time watching video on youtube.

I immediately uninstalled Adobe Flash Player as soon as I got the notice (that I don't remember what it said except it DID look like they wanted $$$). I can't answer you other tech questions, nor did I have any idea what I would use to replace it, but I can tell you that I can still watch videos even though I don't know what vehicle I'm using.... Somehow, I also go hold of another thingie called VLC media player and there is also a Windows media player on my 10 yr old PC.... I'm good (ignorance is bliss).

Thanks for the advice guys. I think I will just leave it there for a while and see what happens. BTW my computer is old also and I am still running Win 9.1 without problems although it is slow sometimes. Worse comes to worse I am planning to get a new desktop sometime.

I’ve heard of this but didn’t know the details. In reading about Flash this morning, it looks like Adobe Flash was never made to be mobile friendly. I don’t think you would miss it if you removed it from your computer. It has been replaced by a different format, (the newer “system” is called html 5) as someone else noted. YouTube no longer uses Adobe Flash.
