My Marine son was issued an M-9 when he made E-6, and promptly shot Expert with it. But when his S-2 shop went on "field trips" in Afghanistan, he always turned it in for a plain, stock M-16 with iron sights, the weapon he was trained on and always shot Expert with. So he was using the M-9 for the Marine version of a "house gun."
Now he prefers a Kimber .45 and an LCR .38.
The M9 is widely and successfully used by LEAs and militaries, so it can't be as bad as some of its critics claim. To me it does seem a bit much for a 9mm.
But I have other Berettas, shotguns and handguns and a neat little .22 auto rifle, and they have NEVER malfunctioned one bit.
I used to have a Model 1935 that I made up of parts from about 5 pistols, commercial 1950's slide, German-marked 1944 frame, aftermarket and surplus parts all over. It would even feed an empty case from the magazine into the chamber! Never jammed, even with .30 Carbine bullets loaded into .32 ACP cases.
Berettas work.
