Well, I think this is the 3rd M-9 I have had in as many years. Dang buddy of mine keeps talking me out of them. Not gonna let him know I got it this time! (yeah, he is one of those kind of "friends") I really like the Beretta M-9, even though some folks think it is too big, it fits my hand well, and I can shoot it pretty good, if I say so myself. I know you know what they look like, but here are a couple pics anyway.

Went to one when we switched from revolvers to semi's with the PD. I have never shot better with any other handgun.

It is a big gun, but I sure shoot it GOOD!!

First one I ever shot was back in the late 80's and belonged to a friend. When I got the money together I bought one but in .40 S&W. Its kept loaded and stashed in a strategic spot in the house.

I've come close to buying a police trade-in 9mm on 3 or 4 occasions. But something else always seems to come up instead.

I carryed one for about 10 years.only one ftf and that was because it was like 10* outside+ old ammo, had to polish some of with steel wool it was so dirty and the gun grease I was using at the time had gelled in the cold temp.cleaned the gun greased it with tw25b , chucked the junk ammo and shot another couple hundred rounds that day with out a problem.
I traded that gun that if ran at least 10,000 through for my 1965 .44 carbine even.
I ran out of that gun show cause I felt like I stood that rifle.

My Marine son was issued an M-9 when he made E-6, and promptly shot Expert with it. But when his S-2 shop went on "field trips" in Afghanistan, he always turned it in for a plain, stock M-16 with iron sights, the weapon he was trained on and always shot Expert with. So he was using the M-9 for the Marine version of a "house gun."

Now he prefers a Kimber .45 and an LCR .38.

The M9 is widely and successfully used by LEAs and militaries, so it can't be as bad as some of its critics claim. To me it does seem a bit much for a 9mm.

But I have other Berettas, shotguns and handguns and a neat little .22 auto rifle, and they have NEVER malfunctioned one bit.

I used to have a Model 1935 that I made up of parts from about 5 pistols, commercial 1950's slide, German-marked 1944 frame, aftermarket and surplus parts all over. It would even feed an empty case from the magazine into the chamber! Never jammed, even with .30 Carbine bullets loaded into .32 ACP cases.

Berettas work.

I've read we may soon see tons of them on the surplus market as the DoD transitions to a new model.
One of the biggest 9mm platforms ever, but entirely usable. Here's hoping we have the milsurp availability before our eyesight fades...
