Oh no, another itch starting... I may not be able to live much longer without a .22 pistol. Wife has a J-frame .22, and I of course have a Single-Six, but no .22 pistol at the moment. Had a Walther P-22, but was too toy-like, screws stipping out,etc.. So, in the running, a Ruger of some type, kinda like the HB, gov't types. There's a Sig, I want to consider. Want something accurate. Others to consider ? Opinions welcome. steve b

If the Ruger, always hated the Luger-esque look of the grip frame. Sooo..the 22/45 is a maybe with the 5.5" barrel. Like the Sig PL22 Trailsider, but guessing its expensive. Gotta see what Browning and S&W have available. steve b

Agreed unless you want to hunt Pa with it while up north at your camp...no semi's... It's a squirrel rule I think. I won't tell if you don't Steve...

MKII get's my nod but the 22/45's are as accurate and lighter too.

Nah, not to hunt, just play. Thanks COR. We gotta meet up sometime this year, at camp. Next visit will be trout camp. Maybe a fun gathering in May or June ? steve b

cbass, thanks for input. COR, got a 6.5" Single-Six if I want to handgun hunt something like squirrels. Next to the bats, red squirrels are the worst squatters, up at camp. Then there are the porkies, sigh.. rattlesnakes, etc A "target rich environment", as they say. steve b

Target rich indeed and the ticks should be great fun too with all of this weather being so warm. The snakes are already out I bet!

Say the word and I'll bring some 22's and a 44 Spl or 2 and have some fun!

I have promised another fellow from here (Mike Barranti) to go check out the Fryburg farm in northern Clarion county (and Grandpa Jack) but this little 4 month old bugger has a way of keeping me close to home. I don't know how I wasted so much time in my 20's and early 30's!

The word'll get said. Reminds me though, gotta go to the basement a slather some corn huskers lotion on that last snake skin. steve b

What do the .22/45's retail for ? Used ? Am going to an outdoor show in Niles/Youngstown area today. May be tempted. steve b

I'm partial to the MKs myself, but not the 22/45s. I like the full metal frame. Different strokes!
You should be able to find used for $175-$250. New I think runs $350-450. Depending which model, barrel, sights.

Got home from the outdoor show, itch still un-scratched. So took the Single-Six out back. Found I have a new target on my range ! Besides the hanging steel and frame for cardboard and paper, mom nature left me a saywer in the river below the house ! Theres a stub, say 4" thick and about a foot or so above the water. Bobs up and down, enticingly. Just gotta. Ok, am good now, but ya never know when that itch'll come back ! steve b

There's good reasons why the Ruger MK series has been in continuous production for 63 years and was the cornerstone on which the entire Sturm Ruger Co was built.
Which style or model is a personal choice, but everyone should own at least one. If you shop around you can find something like this for around $300.

Autos are nice; if you're interested in a single action 22 take a look at the new "Single 10"....10 shot revolver with fiber optic factory sights.

Have owned Single-Sixes since '80. Am not fond of fiber optic type sights. Just wish the front blades were narrower. May look at maching options. steve b

If your interested in the most accurate of the group, the MK series weapons are the ticket.
