Another grip frame question... PLEASE!!

Somewhere here I read that the new mod. Super Blackhawk with short barrels have
The smaller grip frame like on the New Vaquaro.

Is this true? What barrel lengths have the smaller grip frame?
I want to find one and the combination I would love is 4 5/8" bbl. with the
New Vaquaro sized grip frame. I would settle for 5 1/2" if that`s all I can find.

Hi Chuck,

None, something was mis-communicated. The 5 1/2" and shorter SBHs have a smaller grip frame than the Dragoon grip of the long barrel SBHs. But it is a steel version of the standard size Blackhawk and original Vaquero grip, not the steel XR3 short (front to back, not length) gripframe of the NVs, or flat top BHs. iI will bang your knuckles on a 44 Mag. So I'd try one first if you can.
And the NV grip frame requires the internal lock although that's easy to get around.

You'll like the 4 5/8" SBH with the standard grip that comes on it. It's 3/16" further to the rear from the trigger guard than the NV.

Hondo44 , Thanks for your quick reply.
I want the 4 5/8" barrel .44 mag but will only be shooting my own cast bullets almost exclusively and I never load them up hot. I have fired lots of these loads in my .44 mag. old Vaquaros.

Looking on Gallery of guns last night, I see they are out of stock on the .44 mag.
So I purchased the 4 5/8" BH in .357. I should have it an a couple days and they will e-mail me when the .44`s come in.
