Many years ago, 1984 I believe, we were able to take our first real vacation. We'd visited all the relatives that needed visiting and the kids were gone from home. We were empty nesters! Nita had never been west so we (I) selected a drive to Yellowstone National Park. I planned out a route through New Mexico, turning north at Tucumcari and driving along the east side of the Rockies. Sort of made a big loop. And I started something that I was to do for years afterwards on vacations. I kept a hand held tape recorder that I could operate with one hand on the console. At the beginning of our trip, I recorded the date, time, odometer mileage, weather conditions, and location. As we traveled, I added notes, what we were seeing, mileage, time, temperature, etc.

Monday night, with no power, we got out Nita's radio/tape player, battery powered, and relived our 2003 vacation. Took three hours, and was bed time when we ended the tape.

I cut the cable a few years back and after a small adjustment period all is great. I listen to some talk radio, music, do internet and I buy older series like the Waltons, Educational stuff, or Gunsmoke. Any "junk" shows I just buy off Apple TV with no commercials.

Most TV is to your mind what soda pop is to your body.

I haven't had it at home for 21 years, don't even like to watch it when I go out. A good book or a hobby project is a better way to spend a cold winter's night -or day, or a miserable icy rainy stay at home day.

Bob if you would get you a Go-Pro you could start entertaining us with movies of your adventures. Bob at the range, Bob on vacations in Rockies, Bob at the lake in Memphis, Bob eating Memphis BBQ. You could keep us busy for hours, Adventures with Six Gun Bob....

And I am sure it would be much better then what is on TV.

I have a Samsung Tab two. About three years ago I found a Apt, "My tracks." My and my wife Theresa`s thing is trail riding with our side by side Polaris RZR. I also use to fly but just lately sold the plane. Anyway you turn the Apt on and it records your trips. When you get home where you can get on the net it will show you exactly on Google Earth your track. It gives a readout on the time involved, elevation and you also can take pictures as you go and its possible to embed them. I have saved about 70 trips. I still don't know how to take the pictures and embed them on your track but I need to learn it. You can also mark spots and make notes. The apt didn't
cost a dime. When you get home the tablet will actually fly you right down the trail the way you drove or flew it! I think there may be a new version of it, I know they were coming out with one.
