What are people using for a storage cabinet? Not worried about security, more just keeping it outta sight and outta mind of the kids when they're out in the shop with me.
I'm using the bottom half of a mechanic's tool box, has six large drawers. Its full now need something else. I thinking about one of the cheaper Homak gun safe and install some shelving in it. I used an old bedroom dresser in the past, Worked pretty well, if not over loaded....
I use one of the Stack metal gun cabinet I bought at Dick's Sporting Goods with shelves on adjustable racks I installed inside. Talked with the Stackon people at the SHOT Show a couple of years ago and mentioned my modification. You can buy one ready made from them now.
Stackon may not make the best real Safe but they do have several quality levels and the people there are top notch to deal with.
Aint no way that I could make do with a cabinet.
What I've found that works good is to store it in it's origonal boxes, inside mil-surp ammo cans which BTW, stack rather nicely. Once I reach a certain amount of any one caliber, the individual boxes are removed from the cans and stored in mil-surp ammo crates, which also stack rather nicely.
Rinse and repeat.
I just made some shelving from 2x4s and 3/4" plywood. It fits nicely in the corner. I also have a few bookshelves my Grandpa made years ago. For dies, bullets, and other miscellaneous stuff I have a craftsman tool cabinet. Its way overloaded and still holds up well.
I use an old metal tool chest with drawers but I think an old metal filing cabinet would work pretty good also. Nothing that is air tight except ammo cans. I would also suggest keeping ammo indoors in a/c or at least under climate control where it will last a long time.

Thanks all! I had been looking at putting shelves in a stackon gun cabinet (there's a new Dick's up the street), but rolling bench height cabinet sounds ideal.
I use my wifes linen closet.Good and dry in there in the house.Has oak doors on it out of sight.Of course I don't keep that much ammo most of the time.I keep it shot up.LOL
