Am I the only debutant here?

We all know about barbecue guns....the one you wear at an event out in the open in a good looking holster to show off... but I sort of just realized that one of the reason I carry what I carry is because I like the way it looks. I know there is a whole trove of reasons why this make no sense... but for me it is the truth....
Life is too short to carry an ugly gun... but then I also realize the beauty is in the eye of the 'holder'.

In the old days, before many states allowed concealed carry, we had to carry open, and then only in the woods while fishing or hunting. And in those days, if I was open carrying, it often would have been a pretty gun.
A shiny Smith or Colt's revolver, a 1911, a Smith 39, a Super Blackhawk, and they would have all been high gloss blued, likely with beautiful walnut or exotic wood grips.

Years later, we're pretty required or expected to carry concealed. Nobody sees what's hidden under our shirt. Looks no longer matter.

But more than ever, now, regardless of open or concealed, function trumps form. A stainless revolver or full size SIG SA/DA pistol, are now my latter day choices. And to me, they are still gorgeous.

Good looks, comfort, and function are not mutually exclusive. Yes, you can have it all if you're willing to pay the price. I don't carry to impress other people, these are for MY enjoyment.

I have to like a gun in order to buy it, part of that is to like the way it looks.

I’m just not sure if all the ones I find attractive are actually pretty.

I don’t own any fancy, engraved BBQ or Court guns. While I can appreciate them as art, I would not spend my money on fancy embellishments.

If I see fancy engraving, I think waste of money, and hard to keep clean.

My preferences are heavily weighted toward practicality and flawless functionality but I must admit to having fallen prey to an occasional shiny object which catches my eye…

I've known people that have a very expensive grand piano in the living room of their house. When asked who plays the piano most say "no one" LOL.
Its just for looks.
Kinda like a barbeque gun.
