my lgs has always had a few sr1911's in stock since they came out. i see that everyone is having an issue finding them. i thought it was kinda odd that being as scarce as they are this one place always has them. i looked at rugers website the other day and found out why, they got the award for being rugers gun dealer of the year for 2011!!! so i assume ruger makes sure that they have whatever they want all the time
btw it is hoffmans gun center in ct, great bunch of guys too.

I wont bash Hoffman's and I do not know their policy as of today but several weeks ago, after getting the dealer of the year, they stopped shipping SR1911's. All SR1911 sales were in store only. They would have sold out in hours/days if they were willing to ship.

I was told the same thing, I wonder if that had anything to do with Ruger. Maybe Ruger limited their sales to give other dealers a chance, or maybe they did that themselves out of respect.

This is a note on Hoffmans website for most of their handguns now.

They are so busy now I don't think they have time or inventory to sell on the internet.

I have seen at least one SR1911 in every local gun shop that I have visited since I decided to buy one for myself. The store I bought mine at has had and sold over 100 of them in the last 6 months. I'm not doubting the guys not being able to find them, I just wonder why the distribution seems so lop sided???

this is kinda sad, because they are really good guys. i have bought my last 3 guns from them and most of my friends and family buy from them too.

So they don't ship makes them bad guys?
Some dealers just don't deal with shipping-
Your money is fine you just have to spend it at their place. Let them run their shop as they see fit.

With over 15,000 firearm dealers nation-wide, very few SR1911s would be in stock at any one dealer if they were evenly distributed. When wondering about distribution, you have to understand that brand-loyalty varies from region to region--just as some areas are big on Chevys and others are Ford Country. Distribution patterns, more than likely, follow prior sales patterns. As far as I've been able to discern, I purchased the first over-the-counter SR1911 in Northwest Florida (Pensacola)--and I only had to wait 11 months and 3 days from the time that I placed my order. Just be glad that the distributors and dealers aren't routinely jacking up the prices to match the demand. After delivering my SR1911 for under $650 out the door, my dealer immediately offered to buy it from me for more than I paid for it. He's a good man!

What?
If they are bringing $ 800 plus on GB- it sounds like a good money making move.
Your dealer offered to buy yours back at a higher price? Not buying that. He sold it to you without knowing the market.

The price was set almost a year ago (May 26, 2011) when I placed the order. At that time, the quality, high demand, and extended scarcity was not known. When the SR1911 was delivered, he could have sold it to someone else for a higher price or kept it for himself and never have let me know that it had arrived. He didn't. He has been in the business for a long time and deals in used as well as new firearms. You can't stay in that business if you don't know the value of what you are buying and selling. The owner and his family are Christians who adhere to the mandates of their faith to deal honestly with everyone and to keep the bargains that they make. I've done business with this shop for years, and they are very good people to deal with.
