Ruger's web site has fewer and fewer 1911 models available. Can the end be far behind?

You know…. Just one of the dumb takes I’ve had over the years, I really poo-poo’d Ruger’s making of a 1911. Thank God I wasn’t in charge of their decision making cause they been wildly successful and to add further insult to me, offered a bunch of calibers, sized, finishes, etc. Not only that ….. I’ve bought 2 of them.

On a related note …. Ruger shows a total of 8 different 1911s but 14 RXMs! Modular is the future.

I love their 1911's, and need to get off my butt and get the target and night watchman in 10mm

The one on the right is 9mm, the rest are all .45ACP. The one in the center is a Ruger frame, but the slide is not (it shipped as a commander). Camfour, INC ordered 230 customized by Shark Coast Tactical (who has some really good looking guns)

The "officer's" size, the LW "Commander" size, the 10mm. the 9mm target and "commander" to name a few.

Mine too! Took mine to Front Sight - 600 rds in 4 days. Cleaned it after the second day. Perfect piece for me for that course!
I have only 21 Ruger 1911s, couple of duplicates but most are different models.

I was unaware of the reduction of SKU's in the 1911 line, but the entire 2026 catalog shows reductions nearly across the board & even some complete discontinuance on a model or two.

Lots of changes for sure, & if any paranoia or half baked speculation were to enter the picture it sure seems like they're leaning strongly to more plastic & modulation. Good, Bad, or Ugly. Guess I now know how the hard core Winchester fans felt in 1964 -5.

I'm really hoping it's due to them developing a 2011 style line. And/or maybe grab some of the RXM tech to do a chassis system 1911 that could be converted to a 2011, or take Glock mags. I think that would be pretty cool to be able to have a 4" 1911 that you could slap on a new grip frame that could use Glock 26 mags for concealed carry and a G17 frame for around the ranch.
