But there was another thread awhile back and the poster asked if he could shoot ACP in a 45 Colt cylinder with a full moon clip.
I tried it it just to know the answer; short answer is it worked fine with minor mods to the clip. And of course one must remove the cylinder each time to load and unload it, obviously not very practical. But if all you have is a single action 45 but ACP ammo left, you'll be able to defend yourself.
The ACPs shot to a lower pt of impact which was expected since my 45 Colt handloads used heavier bullets.
I used a Ruger New Vaq. Montado.
An S&W full moonclip with the following needed modifications:
Planed it down to .020" thickness, opened up the center hole slightly to fit over the Ruger cylinder 'ratchett' and since the Smith chambers are on a larger diameter circle than the mid frame Ruger, slightly deepened each cartridge slot.
