If this question has been asked before I apologize but I've noticed a lot of people don't care for the non fluted engraved cylinders on their SS Bisley 45's. Can the ACP cylinder be modified to fire 45 Colt cartridges? Thanks ahead of time.

Flatgate,
I guess I'm gonna have to go stay at the Holiday Inn Express because I'm not getting this but I do appreciate the help.

I think you could have the chambers reamed for the 45 colt but you would not be able to shoot 45 acp after that. The 45 colts might headspace ok but I don't know for sure. 8) 8)

Jimbo said it all!

But there was another thread awhile back and the poster asked if he could shoot ACP in a 45 Colt cylinder with a full moon clip.

I tried it it just to know the answer; short answer is it worked fine with minor mods to the clip. And of course one must remove the cylinder each time to load and unload it, obviously not very practical. But if all you have is a single action 45 but ACP ammo left, you'll be able to defend yourself.

The ACPs shot to a lower pt of impact which was expected since my 45 Colt handloads used heavier bullets.
I used a Ruger New Vaq. Montado.
An S&W full moonclip with the following needed modifications:
Planed it down to .020" thickness, opened up the center hole slightly to fit over the Ruger cylinder 'ratchett' and since the Smith chambers are on a larger diameter circle than the mid frame Ruger, slightly deepened each cartridge slot.

Probably no help to you,

The Colt 45s worked fine in an S&W 1917 bored cylinder. I have no experience with other brand revolvers.
