I've had this one awhile (.30-06), but it recently went through some minor re-bedding surgery. I also added new Leupold rings, which I find are very low and look great. This one makes me want to customize and rebarrel another 77, maybe a .257, also with a 24" tube. What's good about this project is that a great rifle can be built for less than a small fortune. My old Army buddy, Justin McMillan at Hill Country Rifles in TX, did all the work. This one shoots factory Accubonds into one ragged hole at 100 yds and has become my favorite .30-06 rifle. A 24" factory contour custom barrel was fitted; action was glassed and barrel channel was floated and sealed.

I had the bolt handle Cera-Koted and the bolt body engine-turned. It came out rather well. The Leupold rings get the 2.5-8X Leupold down low over the bore. I previously had Warne double-lever rings, which I didn't care for. The engine-turning and black bolt handle really sets this one apart from a standard Hawkeye.
Bottom metal was also Cera-Koted, after the silly bird was removed.
A nice stick of wood; not fancy, but good color with some contrast. A Pachmayr decellerator 1" pad was added for a slightly longer length of pull (13.75") and a subtle custom touch.
