And now for my Randall story---I used to go to The Great Western Gun Show every year at the Pomona Fairgrounds---there was a guy who set-up a large display of new Randall knives for sale in the first building on the right after you entered the main display area every year---many, many to choose from. I was a sucker for stag gripped knives (still am), and there were always several to choose from... I would buy a knife from him every year---oil it up, and put it away---never used any of them (I had many other knives to use anyway)... They were expensive at the time, but rarely approaching $200. in later pricing... Turns out, I had about 10 of them, all genuine stag handles, back when you could get real stag... As a young guy who was making pretty good money in the motorcycle industry (before I got into the firearms industry). Several years later, I was raising cash for a down payment on my first house, and showed the knives to a Randall fanatic, and he about lost his mind seeing all those brand new knives! Paid me an amazing amount of $$$ for them! Bought my first house, and that set me up to buy my next house too...! Thinking back, I probably should have kept at least one, but I thought I would always be able to find one if I wanted it, but of course, things changed...
Another time, while managing a gun store, a part time actor came into the store with a leather roll full of Jimmy LILE stag handled knives---mostly smaller skinning style knives (3-4" blades)---all brand new, and all for about $125. each (!)---I bought them all! Sold them later, after Jimmy passed away (before his son/s took over) for great $$$ to the same guy! He must have a GREAT knife collection, if he's still alive... I did keep one of those, and still have it...!
